Country rocker Cameron DuBois recently wrapped up her inaugural charity golf tournament on July 1, aptly called Cameron DuBois’ Par-Tee Down Classic, a fundraiser event which benefited the Montgomery Area Down Syndrome Outreach Group. Together with a supportive community, Cameron and her father Bob DuBois, raised a grand total of $15,000 of donations, up from the initial $12,000 totaled at the conclusion of the event on July 1.
The inaugural event consisted of 21 competing teams, with 84 participating golfers playing, 22 event sponsor organizations, and 17 community volunteers, led by Bob & Cameron DuBois, who organized and managed the event. In addition to the golf tournament, attendees enjoyed a silent auction, a shrimp boil dinner, and a concert featuring Cameron DuBois with Bama Sound.
The tournament also welcomed a special appearance by U.S. Special Olympic Athlete Jane Cameron, a Montgomery native, who played in the tournament along with her coach, Eric Wiley.
The winning team was Charlie Betts, Brian Crowe, Jamison Helmer, and Britt Richardson. The longest drive was awarded to Wilson Adams, and the closest to the hole winner was Cole Turner.
